Adults: $20.00

Children: Free

On Mother’s Day weekend, Les Echos du Pacifique will celebrate 50 years as Greater Vancouver’s Francophone Choir with a concert at Coquitlam’s St. Laurence Anglican Church.

The May 13th concert’s theme is “Le Français a Choeur”, loosely translated as French at heart. The 17-member choir will be singing, from the heart and for the heart, a broad selection of French choral music including 16th century madrigals and French-Canadian folk songs, jazz and the debut of new music created by their in-house composer, Ron Smail.

The story of Les Échos began in 1973 when two parish choirs in Maillardville joined together in song. For them, it was a way to celebrate and preserve their French-Canadian heritage and culture. Today, francophones and francophiles from across the lower mainland continue to come to Maillardville, to celebrate French language and culture through music under the Artistic Direction of Marla Mayson. Les Echos, including a charter member from 1973, are proud to showcase their talents at concerts, festival stages, seniors’ residences, and to share their work globally through their YouTube Channel.

Voilà Noël! An evening of choral music

Les Échos du Pacifique has been Greater Vancouver's francophone choir since 1973. After an absence from performance due to COVID, the choir, under the direction of Marla Mayson, is pleased to present an evening of the music sung in French, Latin and English.

We'll present a host of lovely melodies to set the mood for your holiday season including a version of La Bolduc's (yes as seen on Netflix) 1931 hit “Voilà le Père Noel.”

It’s the choir’s first public performance since the pandemic. After two seasons of rehearsing on Zoom, the choir met again early this fall at their home base in le Centre Francophone de Maillardville. Together, under the direction of Marla Mayson, the singers adjusted to singing with masks and then blending their voices together to make music. The fifteen voice choir is now eager to sing for an audience once again.
